Another White Dash

My favorite thing...

is taking a nap with my dog, Stella. She must be the cutest animal of any species ever born. Ever. She likes to sleep right up next to my face and has such a sweet look when she wakes up. The extreme cuteness usually ends when she wakes up and pees on the floor, as she refuses to go outside at my house. Bitch. I love her anyway.
It has been a crazy few weeks. I have been working diligently on a project for my technical writing class, which I think has turned out quite well. My professor has asked to use a paper and a presentation in her tech writing classes in the future, which made me feel like a genius, and I helped her with her computer on Tuesday. Hopefully she will give me an A.
Today I got my very own P.O. Box in Staples, Texas! Staples is a map dot in central Texas, and I will be living there in about 2 weeks. I plan on spending every free moment exploring the little town and reading by the river. It will be fabulous if I ever get my stuff packed to move.
I graduated from my sorority last night. Right now I am more relieved than sad, but I will miss my friends when they get jobs and move away. It feels like this is the next step in assuming an adult life, though, so there is no point in getting all emotional about it. I knew it was coming and I prepared myself, and I will always have friends to visit out of town. It will be weird not to know what is going on in everyone's lives. I do believe I will miss the gossip.

Finally, something good...

I got the Dell internship! This rocks in so many ways. Not only do I get to quit my superboring job at the health insurance company, I will be getting paid a lot more as well. It does complicate things just a smidge... since I was taking my last class I needed to graduate over the summer, I will have to postpone my graduation until December. Since I am sticking around for grad school anyway, this is not a major deal for me. I should still be able to graduate on time from grad school, and if not, who cares? It's not like I am on a deadline. I am hoping that Dell will hire me after they find out how fabulous I am (haha) and that I really am very interested in tech writing. I'll have to re-learn how to work hard though. No more naps face-down on my computer keyboard, no more checking my email 50 times a day, no more sneaking away early or doing school work instead of work work. I absolutely cannot wait.

It didn't take me long to get behind on this little experiment. I can't really be behind though; there are no deadlines, and no one is waiting for me to write.
This entire last week was the week.from.hell. A quick synopsis: My sister and I don't get along and my parents blame me, thinking that she is the perfect angel. This is very far from the truth. So, because I was angry, I told my mother some of the shitty things her little angel has done and concealed while being away at college. Although she has had it coming for a long time, I still feel really bad and wish I could take it back, because 1. It hurt my mom, and 2. Because I don't normally believe in ratting out siblings or friends. I was desperate for some fairness. My mom doesn't believe that she favors my sister, but she does. I don't know why- I am infinitely more likeable. I think it is because she thinks Jess needs her more. Mom likes to be needed. (No commentary just now on my dad because he is crazy and I just don't have the time.)
I had an interview with Dell last Wednesday. It is for a PAID internship in their Information Development department, and I would pretty much sell my soul for the chance to intern there. I would actually get to write!! They had 35 applicants, chose 5 to interview (one of which was me), and are choosing one intern. I am cautiously hopeful, as the competition is steep. I should find out by the end of this week.

Blank Pages...

Blank pages are 1/2 scary and 1/2 exciting. When you have a blank page, you have a chance to turn it into something great and profound and grammatically correct; conversely, you also have the chance to turn it into something boring, pretentious, and full of mistakes. This blank page is more than 1/2 scary because readers other than my professors may see it. I usually know what to expect from them. I have no idea what to expect from anonymous readers.
I have been wanting to start a a blog for a while, but my life isn't that interesting. It does seem like a good exercise in writing, though, so I think I will give it a try. I like to read my friend's blogs even though they are more than a little boring. Maybe someone will like to read mine.
If you don't know me already, my name is Sarah. I am 22, a senior at Texas State in San Marvelous, Texas. I have a really freaking cute dog named Stella and a really freaking great fiancee named Jeremy. He has a dog too, and his name is Wrigley. He is the best behaved dog I have ever met. After September 4th, we will be one big happy family. I am going to graduate school in the fall to learn how to write well enough to make good money doing it, and hopefully after that I will get a Ph.D. so that I can teach college English. I like to write, I LOVE to read, and I like to do some other things too. I'll get to those things another night, because I don't like going to class when I stay up late. I am going to try to keep up with this on at least a weekly basis, but no promises.
